The Health Service will specify exact conditions on the colour of the fillings that you can have and sometimes as a patient you may not want a silver coloured filling. If this is the case white fillings can be provided as a more cosmetic option. There are conditions in which amalgam fillings(silver fillings) are not suitable and condition in which white (composite resin) fillings are not suitable and your dentist can inform you if this is the case.
