Meet The Team at Shankill Bank Dental Practice
Lets take a look at the team of professionals at our Kingsway Family Dental Practice & also in our Shankill Dental Practice. Below is a brief overview of each member of our staff with a list of hobbies listed in some bios. Take a look at our fantastic team and enjoy.
Dr. Robert Gilmer (Kingsway, Dunmurry and Shankill)
I graduated from Queens University in Belfast 1978, and was appointed as the dental houseman in the Belfast City Hospital.
Following experience working in general practice I established Kingsway Family Practice in Dunmurry in 1982.
In 1991 I took over the Bank Dental practice from Dr Nivison and as in Dunmurry, have developed the surgery to embrace the best of modern dental practice.
I was selected as a trainer for dental graduates in general dental practice in 1991. I am fortunate to have a dedicated group of nurses and receptionists whose professional approach makes running the practice a satisfying experience.
My assistant Pamela Scott who also graduated from Queens provides a gentle and comprehensive ground floor surgery, which has been adapted to treat wheelchair bound patients or those to whom stairs are a barrier.
Sue Tate is the practice hygienist, and is dedicated to treatment and prevention of gum disease, all with a smile!
In 2004 I completed a year long course of training in dental implants. This has enabled me to replace missing teeth and provide a real alternative to dentures for a large number of my patients.
I am particularly interested in the treatment of nervous patients who have a fear of the dentist and use relaxation techniques to build up confidence to enable care to be given.
Hobbies: Away from the practice I enjoy time with my wife Audrey, and three children. Sport has always been my passion, playing rugby and now golf. I am a past president of Swim Ulster.
Dr.Pamela Scott (Kingsway, Dunmurry)
I graduated from Queens University as a Dental Surgeon in 1977 and worked for some years in a practice in Finaghy, before having a break from denistry while my children were young.
Since then I have worked in General Practice with a short spell as a Community Dental Officer in Malone Place. I joined the team here in Dunmurry about 15 years ago and have enjoyed all aspects of my work here.
Leanne Brown (Kingsway, Dunmurry)
I qualified with The National Certificate in Dental Nursing in 1999. I have been working with Mr. Gilmer since 2003 and enjoy that I can use my skills in both surgery and reception.
I love to spend time with family and friends, but especially my 1 year old daughter, Megan.
Leanne Brown (Kingsway, Dunmurry)
Qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1977 in Birmingham. The first 5 years I worked in the community, i.e. hospitals - schools.
Since 1983 have worked in general practice. I have been in Dunmurry and Shankill practices with RG Gilmer since 1999.
I believe "prevention is better than cure" and within our practices we try to achieve this.
Coming to work each day is easy as we have a great team and have fun!
Debbie Moore (Kingsway, Dunmurry)
I qualified as a dental nurse in 1981, but my job here is mainly receptionist.
I have been here for 12 years and love my job. My hobbies include skidiving, canoeing and contact sport and when I'm not doing this, I like to go out walking and spending time with my family.
Hobbies: Skydiving, Canoeing, contact sport.
Diana Davidson (Kingsway, Dunmurry)
I started Dental Nursing in 1971 and qualified as a Dental Nurse in the Royal Victoria Hospital in 1977. I have worked in both hospital and general practice. I have been a member of the team here at Kingsway for 10 years. I also currently work at the Relief of Pain Clinic at Belfast City Hospital. My spare time is spent looking after my grandchildren and my elderly mother.
Nicola Bickerstaff (Kingsway ,Dunmurry)
I qualified with The National Certificate of Dental Nursing in 1996 and in May 2000 gained my Certificate in Oral Health Education. I have worked with Mr Gilmer since 2005 and love my job here.
I am married with two children.
